As of April 2025: The School of Religion and Theology and a New Faculty

CThM Admin

As of April 2025, the Faculty of Religion and Theology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will be merging into a new faculty: the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. At the same time, it will maintain its distinct identity as the School of Religion and Theology.

The Center for Theology of Migration is pleased to continue as an integral part of the School of Religion and Theology at the VU University Amsterdam, continuing to offer and develop our programs as before. At the same time, we recognize and celebrate the unique opportunities this transition brings. As a center that studies theology from the perspective of migration, we understand that migration is a deeply human phenomenon, strongly interrelated with the social sciences and humanities. Therefore, we look forward to engaging in meaningful collaborations and expanding our network within the broader framework of the new Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

As CThM, we are excited about the future of our work within the School of Religion and Theology, while also embracing the potential for interdisciplinary dialogue and partnerships within the wider faculty. We extend our congratulations to our colleagues at the School of Religion and Theology, and the dean and his team at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Dr. Samuel Lee

Rector, Center for Theology of Migration
